Prof. Jizhong Zhu

Biography:

Jizhong Zhu is a professor at the South China University of Technology (Foreign Academician of Academy of Sciences of Bologna Institute, IEEE Fellow, IET Fellow, CSEE Fellow) and a “National Distinguished Expert.” He received his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees from the School of Electrical Engineering, Chongqing University in February 1985, 1987, and 1990, respectively. He is currently the director and professor of the ISESOOC Center of the South China University of Technology, serving as a high-level talent introduced by China. Since 2018, he has acted as the Chairman of the IEEE P2781 and P2783 international standards working groups, a Member of the IEEE SMC Smart Power and Energy Systems Technical Committee, and a Member of the IEEE SMC Standards Committee; he held the Chair of IEEE PES SBLC Loads Sub-Committee, served as Senior Principal Power Systems Engineer at Alstom Grid from 2000-2015, and became an academician-level expert of the Alstom Global Expert Committee in 2013.

Prof. Atif Iqbal

Biography:

ATIF IQBAL (Fellow IEEE, IET, IE, AIAA, AAIA; Corresponding Member NAAI) earned his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from Aligarh Muslim University, India (1991, 1996), and Ph.D. from Liverpool John Moores University, UK (2006). He received a D.Sc. (Habilitation) in control, informatics, and electrical engineering from Gdansk University of Technology, Poland in 2019. He is a Full Professor at Qatar University and formerly held a professorship at AMU, India. He is also Honorary Adjunct Professor at M.A. American University, Nigeria, Bharath University, India, and Adjunct Faculty at Community College, Doha. Since 2019, he has been listed among the top 2% highly cited scientists worldwide (Stanford University). His research focuses on power electronics, variable speed drives, e-mobility, smart grids, energy transition, micro/nano grids, and renewable energy. He has published over 600 papers, holds 8 patents, authored 4 books, and supervised projects worth millions of USD, including 21 PhD students. He received the Outstanding Faculty Merit Award (2014–2015) and multiple Research Excellence Awards at Qatar University (2015, 2019, 2022). He has won several best paper awards and serves as Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics and Senior Editor and Editorial Board Member of IEEE Access.

Researcher, Wei Xu

Biography:

Wei Xu is a researcher at the Institute of Electrical Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He received his Doctor of Engineering degree from the Institute of Electrical Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences in July 2008. He has conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Technology Sydney and RMIT University in Australia, as well as at Meiji University in Japan, supported by the Vice Chancellor Research Fellowship and JSPS Invitation Research Fellowship, respectively. He currently serves as a professor and doctoral supervisor at Huazhong University of Science and Technology. He has been recognized as an IEEE Fellow, IET Fellow, a high-level talent of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and a national young talent. Wei Xu is the director of the Key Laboratory of High-Density Electromagnetic Power and Systems. He has published over 210 high-level journal papers (including more than 170 in IEEE journals), holds over 150 authorized invention patents (with 2 licensed), and has authored 4 monographs. He has led the development of 2 group standards. His research works have been cited over 9,500 times on Google Scholar, with an h-index of 47. He has led more than 20 research projects, including National Key R&D Program projects, four National Natural Science Foundation of China projects (two of which received excellent completion evaluations), and the Chinese Academy of Sciences Pioneer Action Plan projects. His long-term research focuses on linear motor systems, developing a series of original contributions in areas such as steady-state and dynamic equivalent modeling, multi-parameter identification, minimum loss control, and system-level optimization. His work has improved the energy efficiency of linear motor systems and has been widely applied in industries such as urban rail transit, steelmaking, and petroleum extraction.

Biography:

Professor Loi Lei Lai is Chairman of DRPT International Incorporated, Australia. He was a Pao Yue Kong Chair Professor with Zhejiang University, China; Professor & Chair of Electrical Engineering with City St George's, University of London, UK, and University Distinguished Professor with Guangdong University of Technology, China. Professor Lai received an IEEE Third Millennium Medal, the IEEE Power and Energy Society (IEEE/PES) UKRI Power Chapter Outstanding Engineer Award in 2000, a special award from City St George's in 2005 and is its honorary graduate, the IEEE/PES Energy Development and Power Generation Committee Prize Paper in 2006 and 2009, the IEEE Systems, Man, and Cybernetics Society (IEEE/SMCS) Outstanding Contribution Award in 2013 and 2014, the Most Active Technical Committee Award in 2015 and 2024, IEEE Standards Association Certificate of Appreciation for outstanding contributions in 2020 and 2024, a member of the IEEE Smart Cities Board of Governor; Member-at-large, IEEE Technical Activities Board (TAB) Committee on Standards & Chair of the Seed Funding ad hoc, Chair of IEEE/SMCS Standards Committee, IEEE/SMCS Fellow Committee Evaluator, IEEE/SMCS Distinguished Lecturer and IEEE/PES Lifetime Achievement Award Committee Assessor. His current interests are in smart cities and smart grid. He is an IEEE Life Fellow.

Prof. Shunli Wang

Biography:

Prof. Shunli Wang is a Professor, Doctoral Supervisor, Executive Vice President of Smart Energy Storage Institute, Academic Dean of Electric Power College at Inner Mongolia University of Technology, Academician of Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, IET Fellow, Provincial Senior Overseas Talent, Tianfu Qingcheng Provincial Scientific and Technological Talent, Academic Leader of the National Electrical Safety and Quality Testing Center, Provincial Tianfu Talent, Academic and Technical Leader of China Science and Technology City, Top 2% Worldwide Scientist. His research interests include modeling, state estimation, and safety management for energy storage systems. 56 projects have been undertaken, supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Provincial Science and Technology Department et al. 258 research papers have been published with a RIS value of 11617 and h-index value of 34. 52 intellectual property rights have been approved. 9 monographs have been published by famous publishers of Elsevier and IET and so on. The total print number of New Energy Technology and Power Management reaches 6300 copies that are reprinted 4 times. He has guided students on 29 science and technology innovation projects with 6 excellent completions and 34 awards in science and technology competitions. He has won 13 scientific and technological awards, including the Gold Award at the 48th Geneva Invention Exhibition. The appraisal result has reached the internationally advanced level, as reported by People's Daily.

Prof. Guoneng Li

Zhejiang University of Science and Technology, China

Biography:

Guoneng Li, male, Ph.D., Professor, Dean of the School of Intelligent Manufacturing and Energy Engineering of Zhejiang University of Science and Technology, 151 candidates for the new century in Zhejiang Province, the first batch of leading talents ( high-level top-notch talents ) in Zhejiang Province, and the academic leaders of Zhejiang universities. He studied in Zhejiang University from 2000 to 2009 and obtained his Ph.D.in engineering thermophysics. He has worked in Zhejiang University of Science and Technology since July 2009. He is mainly engaged in the research of semiconductor thermoelectric power generation, enhanced heat transfer, combustion control and energy efficiency evaluation. He has hosted several major projects at the national and provincial levels, and published more than 100 SCI articles. Focusing on the application of research results, the independently developed outdoor CHP system has achieved industrial production and sales ; lead the team to complete the demonstration project of exhaust waste heat utilization of 10,000-ton coastal ships and 1,000-ton inland river ships, and complete the demonstration project of cascade waste heat utilization of waste heat thermoelectric power generation of special transformer electrician series transformer.
